Friday, September 13, was the first Professional Day of this academic year for teaching staff, and it proved to be both interesting and enjoyable.
After a welcome from Khun Rose Marie, Ajarn Wanchai spoke about “Anxiety Disorders in Children”. It was interesting to learn about the wide variety of disorders that we might come across in our students, their causes, and the range of available treatments.
Our next speaker was Khun Abasiri Chutikul, a play therapist who has worked extensively with children of all ages as well as with adults. This was a very practical session which made us think, and share ideas, observations, and experiences.
The next guest speaker was Terry Bell who was a teacher at Rose Marie Academy in 2005 to 2006 and is now the Chief IELTS Examiner Trainer. Terry who is the author of ASEAN Multi-Media English has generously donated this online program to the school. He explained the contents and ways in which it could be used. The teachers are keen to start using this program which will have extensive benefits not only for English language acquisition but will also extend the students’ knowledge of ASEAN countries.
