Jade Carter at Rose Marie Academy
Rose Marie Academy was the perfect atmosphere for Jade Carter to work with international students. Coming back home to Thailand, Jade was thrilled volunteering for two months in the academy’s library and child center. As a junior she can attend the University of Kennesaw in Georgia on line and be close to her parents who live in Bangkok.
Her choice of Rose Marie Academy is due to the size of the school and the education it offers to students who benefit from a caring learning environment. The teachers and staff are friendly and dedicated to their profession. There is an understanding of the children's abilities through selection of approaches for each student.
Jade aspires to be a psychiatrist or counselor as she enjoys working with adolescents. As a Human Services major this stint has been an eye opening experience. She will garner a degree in Human Services and Psychology upon graduation and have a license to work with children. Since she is only 21, she can identify with the high schoolers at the Academy. Jade wants to do something to give back to this adopted country.
In the Rose Marie Academy library, Jade helped cataloging and organizing books to allow students to easily research all materials. The library aims to stimulate a love of reading and promotes a sense of curiosity that leads to research. There is an information technology section where students can continue to learn about the subject in which they are interested. Jade has taken several courses in computer science and helps the students in this area.
The Rose Marie Academy students have performed extremely well in a safe and caring environment. Concern is evident as each student is identified for his/her strengths and weaknesses. The staff and students of Rose Marie Academy will miss her expertise and cheery disposition when she returns in her homeland the United States of America.
