This school year Junior High School and Senior High School decided to join together for an annual over-night field trip. The destination was Kanchanaburi which lies 123 km west of Bangkok. We tried to tailor the trip with action, history, and a smattering of adventure.

Day One – February 26, 2018
We left the school campus at around 7:30 a..m on Monday, February 26. First stop was Prasart Mueang Singh, the ancient ruins of two Khmer temples dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries. There was a palpable sense of serenity in this fascinating park. Next we headed to our chosen resort, Pung Waan, beautifully situated near the River Kwai. A tasty lunch was awaiting us followed by an action packed, strenuous afternoon of mountain biking, zip-lining, and obstacle courses. No resistance to the call for an early turn in.

Day Two – February 27, 2018
The following day was spent on a train journey through Hellfire Pass, visit to the War Museum, and finally Sai Yok Noi waterfall. Late afternoon there was either swimming or taking a leisurely walk around the resorts beautiful environs where flowering trees were everywhere along with colorful butterflies lazily fluttering about their business. Sleep suited us all.

Day Three – February 28, 2018
Our last day took us to the JEATH War Museum and right next to it, the famous Bridge over the River Kwai. We were lucky enough to have timed our visit to coincide with a train crossing the famous bridge which was rather fascinating to observe. Lunch was had, and then it was time to head back to school and reality once more! All in all a good time was had by all. On reflection, students were well-behaved and respectful – a pleasure for the teachers to chaperone!
