New – a Velocipede!
Having completed and tested a replica Ce’le’ripede, a bicycle without steering or pedals, our Bicycle Design and Technology Workshop moved on to the next development in bicycle history, the Velocipede. Our inspiration was the invention of Frenchman Nicephore Niepce in 1818. Like him, we added a steering mechanism to our machine, converted from our Ce’le’ripede. It certainly made it easier to maneuver, although without pedals, we still had to scoot along.
