First Aid Workshop for RMA Academic Staff and Teachers
At Rose Marie Academy the health and safety of our students is considered most important, but accidents do happen and students do fall ill.
We are fortunate in having a full-time nurse on our staff, Khun Siripan Charupatanapongse, while staff members must also know how to deal with emergencies should they arise.
In order to stay well-prepared, on September 15, 2016, Mrs. Debbie Thompson along with Ms. Sas Digby, registered nurses of First Aids Solutions, conducted a workshop on first-aid procedures for the school’s academic staff.
They taught the participants how to respond during medical emergencies. They also demonstrated how to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when a person is having a heart attack and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) to treat sudden cardiac arrest.
The workshop also covered other important and useful first aid techniques such as how to provide assistance for severe bleeding, spinal injury, shock, and choking.
This was an intensive but worthwhile learning experience leaving staff more knowledgeable and confident in dealing with any medical emergency.
