Allured by the upcoming nationwide celebration of traditional Thai New Year, students, teachers, and staff at Rose Marie Academy enthusiastically organized a Songkran celebration by means of the school’s integrated learning process to promote the beauty of Thai culture within its vibrant international community.
This year’s theme, “Celebrating Songkran with Thai Desserts”, successfully showcased students’ cultural performances, a demonstration of Thai dessert cooking, Thai handwriting and coloring contests, and a display of students’ research on Thai desserts. At the same time, Rose Marie Academy acted on its social responsibility by promoting a fun water-saving scheme, creatively turning recycled plastic water bottles into water spray bottles. Hence, not only did the students continue to enjoy Songkran in its unique water festive way, but also they helped the country preserve water.
Throughout this lively half-day program, two senior high school student moderators, Tarnnalinn and Dancho, under Teacher Bobby’s supervision, did a great job in entertaining the audiences while ably providing informative details on related Thai culture. This colorful day came to an end with the parents, teachers, and staff gathering for an essential traditional water pouring ritualwith sincere blessings for the children.
