The Art Studio was a buzz of activity preparing for our year-end performance, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Students from Levels 1–6 and Senior High School (SHS) worked on this project.
Students first developed their ideas in their sketchbooks. Emphasis was placed on their own interpretation and imagination, along with observational drawing skills.
The senior high school students studied different types of trees found in a cold temperate climate. This was in preparation for their large scale backdrop of a forest scene.
Level 5 and 6 also studied tree shapes. They viewed short video clips, and again they came up with their own images. They worked in small groups to create large scale individual trees. Level 3–4 focused on the interior image of the dwarfs’ house. Finally, Level 1–2 students produced small animal images. An emphasis was also placed on the importance of team work, and students being able to work independently when needed.
