Upper Primary students were interested to learn about Aztec life. The Aztecs had a unique way of recording important facts using a Quipu, a device using string and knots. The students made Quipus and recorded facts that they might want to remember, such as birthdays.
It was surprising to learn that the Aztecs’ main crops were corn, cacoa and tomatoes. We sampled corn-on-the-cob, a hot cocoa drink and tortillas with sautéed tomatoes and also honey. These are all enjoyed by us today, thanks to the Aztecs.
