Child Center Summer Program students studied about books.
They learned the different parts of a book, how to handle and look after it, and also how to choose a book. They chose a story for the teacher to read to the class, and then took it home to share with their families.
Their favorite characters were Peppa Pig and Thomas the Tank Engine.
Child Center Summer Program Course 1 concluded with a shared learning presentation when students talked about what they had learnt for their parents and carers.

As a conclusion to this week’s topic of Hair and Hats the students attending the Child Center Summer Program styled the hair of each other, their teacher, and one brave volunteer mum. In addition to a lot of fun and laughter, the students learnt about taking care of their hair and the associated vocabulary such as hygienic, gel, conditioner, and shampoo.
Last week’s theme for the Child Center Summer Program was Uniforms. The students did well in a brainstorming activity to name people who wear uniforms and went on to discuss the purpose of uniforms.
We invited two members of the Rose Marie Academy staff, the nurse and a custodian, to visit the class and answer questions posed by the students. On Thursday, we welcomed three uniformed visitors – an army officer, a soldier, and a pilot. The students were very excited and were keen to ask questions.

The Upper Primary Class completed a community service project by making books for the students in Child Center Level 3 (C3) and reading the stories to them. The students looked at sample books and brainstormed the criteria for creating the books, always keeping in mind the ages and interests of the C3 students, before creating their illustrated books.
Rose Marie Academy hosted their Hollywood themed Talent Show on Friday, May 24, 2019. Rose Marie Academy celebrates Songkran festival every year to introduce students to this important part of Thai culture. Students learn the importance of Songkran as Thai traditional new year. They perform water-pouring ceremony to show respect and gratitude to elders and to ask for blessings.
This year, our theme was “A Weave in Time” with emphasis on the beauty of fabrics, a unique aspect of Thai life. All the performances presented came from the collaborative work of the students. They researched, created choreography, and diligently practiced to demonstrate their ability under the guidance of the Thai language teacher, the music teacher, and other organizing committee members.
The event proved to be successful as seen from the smiles, the happiness, and the enjoyment of every participant.
Child Center Water Play Day
On March 20, 2019, the ribbon was cut for Rose Marie Academy’s 16th annual Blue Planet Exhibition which opened for viewing and will be on display until March 29, 2019. Chatchanod, a senior high school student, did a great job of MCing the event. Child Center students treated all to their cute version of “It’s A Small World After All” Lastly senior high students recited personally selected poems with a connection to our environment.
On March 15, 2019, Child Center students and teachers went on a field trip to Baan Khru Thani to witness and experience the environment where farmers cultivate their crops.
