The Introductory Reception for Primary and Junior High School on September 4, 2019, was very informative for our parents. They had the opportunity to meet and greet the teachers and other parents. Khun Wanchai gave a helpful presentation on “How to Nurture a Child’s Mental Health”. Teachers introduced themselves and gave a brief overview of their curriculum. Parents saw a video of their children involved in activities in Art, Music, P.E., and Thai classes. All the parents were invited to their child’s homeroom to interact with the class. Rose Marie Academy celebrates Songkran festival every year to introduce students to this important part of Thai culture. Students learn the importance of Songkran as Thai traditional new year. They perform water-pouring ceremony to show respect and gratitude to elders and to ask for blessings.
This year, our theme was “A Weave in Time” with emphasis on the beauty of fabrics, a unique aspect of Thai life. All the performances presented came from the collaborative work of the students. They researched, created choreography, and diligently practiced to demonstrate their ability under the guidance of the Thai language teacher, the music teacher, and other organizing committee members.
The event proved to be successful as seen from the smiles, the happiness, and the enjoyment of every participant.
On March 20, 2019, the ribbon was cut for Rose Marie Academy’s 16th annual Blue Planet Exhibition which opened for viewing and will be on display until March 29, 2019. Chatchanod, a senior high school student, did a great job of MCing the event. Lower Primary students were studying “Life Cycles”. A cocoon was found and kept in a jar. After two weeks, it turned into a butterfly. It was fed some watermelon and then set free after one day. The students said “good-bye” to the beautiful butterfly and watched sadly as it flew away.
On Thursday, November 29, 2018, Upper and Lower Primary students visited Art in Paradise. This three dimensional exhibition featured wonderful scenes in which students were able to become part of the pictures. They took many photos both of themselves and their friends, opening new vistas for adventure possibilities. The visit complemented their current project on three dimensional art. After the visit the students enjoyed a leisurely lunch together.
The festive occasion was made colorful with the traditional dress of Australia, countries of the continent of Africa, The Solomon Islands and the Philippines. Lunch was a gastronomical feast enjoyed by all, and reflected the multicultural nature of both the occasion and our school.
