On March 15, 2019, Child Center students and teachers went on a field trip to Baan Khru Thani to witness and experience the environment where farmers cultivate their crops. We visited an authentic Thai farmhouse surrounded by emerald green rice paddies. It was the perfect place to experience delicious Thai food and desserts.
The day began with children learning about the process of rice planting thru to harvesting. They listened intently to Kru Thani explain rice processing. After having the opportunity to witness each step in the barn area, the children found out how hard farmers have to work for us to have rice on our table to eat. Children also had the opportunity to collect eggs from hens, climb trees, ride a buffalo, and have a go on a tractor going into the rice paddy. Another highlight was a boat ride around the pond where students were able to use the oars and try steering themselves.
After all the fun activities Kru Thani had a surprise up his sleeve! He then showed the children how to make “kanom krok”. They all enjoyed the delicious Thai dessert.
Our children have asked for more visits to Baan Kru Thani. A truly fantastic day was had by all!
